Popular Tent Designs
We hope that you enjoy reading this great article on the many popular tent designs available today, hopefully it will help you make an informed decision on which type of tent you need.
There are many different popular tent designs. They vary in terms of size, build quality and of intended use. The designs which are best for you depends on the number of people who will be sharing the tent, and also on the type of place where you intend to camp, for example will you use a camp site, a festival field or will you be camping in the mountains.
Some of the more common tent designs are: Pop Up Tents, These are quite a new form of tent, and they are very fast to pitch and also very easy. You just need to remove it from its carry bag, and then simply let go.
These designs will then spring open and expand to its full capacity. If it’s a single-skin type, it's then just a matter of pegging the tent out and you’re done. Double-skin pop up tents are a bit different, usually the inner part of the tent pops up, then you have to fix the outer over it before pegging out.
Dome tents are very popular designs, and are possibly the most purchased of all. They are often inexpensive to buy, do not weigh much for their size and internal space, and the dome shape is quite stable tents in strong winds.

These designs are also quite fast to erect (pitch), however the smaller ones don’t have enough room for a person to stand up and for this reason tend to suit shorter camping trips.
Another type of popular design is the Frame Tents These have a steel frame made from interconnecting poles and it is this which supports the outer tent. The inner is usually suspended from the frame and this forms the sleeping compartments.
They are very strong and have a lot of headroom so that you can stand upright in them and plenty of living space which makes them one of the most popular tents, but they are quite heavy and can take quite a long time to pitch.
Tunnel Tents This form is a tunnel shape because of the semi-circular hoops which give the tent its shape. These types are available in anything from small sizes up to very big family sizes, accommodates ten or more persons ideal for that family trip. They are quite good at staying up in windy conditions.
Lightweight Tents: These popular tents are often used for backpacking, this is where the tent and all of the other camping equipment is carried in your rucksack.
They usually only sleep one or two people, and they do not have a lot of headroom. More robust designs are used for camping in the mountains where the weather conditions are more extreme.
There are many other popular tent designs and some are actually a combination of more than one of these styles.
Whichever type you decide to buy, you should ensure that it is large enough to fit the number of persons who will be sharing it, and that it is not too heavy for you to transport. Large popular tent designs are usually best suited to sheltered camp sites where the wind will not be too much of a problem.
In more mountainous or exposed places, smaller and stronger tents are the ones to choose. We hope you have enjoyed reading this article on popular tent designs, and that it has helped you in making the right decision on the type you will need for that great outdoor adventure.
