Two Person Tents

Two person tents are availaible in a wide range of colours and styles, and before you choose one you need to consider what type of camping trip you are planning.

If you are thinking of hiking or climbing then the weight of the tent should be your first consideration, most types of 2 man tent will be around the 4 kg mark. This is considered a reasonable weight for hikers or backpackers to carry around, personally I always like my tent to be on or under the 4kg weight when hiking.

The modern types of tent these days are designed with extremely light and very strong materials, and by carrying out some research it is possible to find a top quality tent under the 4kg weight which is ideal for hiking.

Obviously the higher the rating the better the protection will be, but the 2500mm hydrostatic rating should be the minimum you look for when buying a tent.

You will also need to purchase a fly sheet for your tent if it does not come with one, the silicone designs are extremely durable and are very light to carry which is ideal for hikers.

But you will find that they can be a bit more expensive than other types of fly sheet, but when hiking saving on the weight you carry should be your main concern.

The extra load is a big factor when hiking so in order to combat this you should look for a silicone fly sheet to keep the carry load down to a minimum, the polyester style fly sheets are cheaper than silicone but they are heavier this has to be taken in to consideration when loading your backpack for your trip.

Height should also be one of your considerations when buying a tent, you should check to make sure you can sit up comfortably without rubbing your head on the inside.

Having this head room inside the tent is of great benefit in two person tents, especially when you are stuck in bad weather and might have to spend a long period of time inside the tent.

You should also look for a tent that is advertised as easily pitched, this is extremely helpful if you are on a trip and the weather decides to turn bad quickly.

There is nothing worse than trying to erect a tent in heavy rain, so finding one that is simple and quick to erect can make all the difference to your hiking trip.

One of the more popular styles these days for hikers is the pop up tent or dome tent, most of these types of tent have been designed with features that allow you to erect it in very quick time. They can also be extremely light and resistant to the harshest of weather conditions making them the perfect choice for hikers.

Providing a person has the right equipment and accessories a camping trip can be a very inexpensive way of having a great holiday, being able to spend time with your family or friends and enjoying the great outdoors are the great benefits of going on a camping trip.
